Feb. 11--WEST HAVEN -- Authorities are investigating two separate car fires this weekend, with one being a possible suspicious blaze and the other being doused by city employees driving a pay loader, according to Center District Deputy Chief Scott Schwartz.
A fire involving a car that was stranded in the snow early Sunday around 3 a.m. and blocking North Street is under investigation as potentially suspicious.
A second occurred early Saturday around 1:30 a.m. at the intersection of Gilbert and Orlando streets and was put out by city employees in a pay loader who dumped a bucket of snow on the flames. A fire truck attempted but could not get to the blaze because of street conditions.
Anyone with information on either fire can call the Center Fire District Fire Marshal Keith Flood at 203-937-3710 or police Detective Anthony Simone at 203-937-3900.
