Firefighters from Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Fire Rescue Department rescued two puppies from a burning home Tuesday morning, according to a news release from the department.
The department received a report of a residential structure fire at 850 Arizona Avenue at 9:18 a.m. and arrived three minutes later to find a single-story, single-family home with smoke throughout and fire in the laundry room area.
During the initial search of the structure for possible victims, firefighters found two puppies and rescued them from the smoke, bringing them out of the home where they were turned over to firefighter/paramedics for treatment. The dogs were given oxygen and then returned to the home owner, according to the news release.
The fire was contained in the laundry room and was quickly extinguished. Fire investigators remained on the scene after firefighters. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
