La. Mom Faces Homicide Charges in Fire Deaths of Her Kids

Ciarria Johnson has been charged with negligent homicide when her children, ages 3 and 4, died in a Bastrop fire.

A Bastrop mother is facing charges after her two children died, who were home alone, died in a blaze.

Ciarria Johnson, 21, originally told investigators that she asked her neighbor to watch the children when she left for the hairstylist on Monday afternoon, according to KNOE-TV.

Two hours later, Johnson was notified about the fire and returned home to find the one-story home engulfed in flames.

Ta’shae Thompson Johnson, 4, and her 3-year-old brother, Clifton Thompson Johnson perished in the fire.

Johnson told officials that two gas heaters were left on in the living rooms, where investigator said the fire started. 

The television station reports that investigators talked with neighbors when they discovered that Johnson did not request anyone to look after the children.

She is facing two counts of negligent homicide.
