Firefighters in Vermont are reeling following a blaze in their station Tuesday morning.
Randolph Fire Chief Jay Collette told NECN he was "awe-struck" at having to confront a fire at his own station.
Their primary engine, about four years old, was destroyed, while others were damaged.
"No fire chief wants this in their own house. But we'll deal with it - that's what we do," he told reporters.
Collette said the department's primary fire engine, only four years old, was lost in the fire. He valued the piece of equipment at $450,000.
Firefighters used its apparatus for training Monday night, he noted.
Collette said an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
