An arsonist is terrorizing a small Missouri community.
Inter City Fire Protection District firefighters have responded to 28 fires in Blue Summit in less than a month, FOX4 reported.
The latest one on Sunday night occurred in a home where a family lived. Luckily, they were gone when the fire started.
All the blazes have been within a mile of each other in Blue Summit, an unincorporated town in Jackson County.
ICFPD Chief Jeffery Jewell told reporters: “I think on a scale of 1-10, I think it’s a 10. I’m worried about it because I know all these people down here, and I know that not all of them are going to be able to get out of their houses if something happens."
A firefighter was hurt extinguishing one of those fires.
After that incident two weeks ago, Jewell said: “It’s frustrating, it’s wearing our people out and obviously it’s not just here it’s around the metro. We’re relatively busy throughout the year but not like this and you can feel the high winds coming in and they are dangerous. We knew somebody was going to get hurt sometime and tonight we injured a firefighter.”
A reward for information is being offered.
