TACOMA, Wash. --
People in northeast Tacoma said they are fearful after the 12th arson fire in the area in about a month burned in a row of bushes near a church early Tuesday morning, KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reported.
Firefighters rushed to the scene near the Faith Baptist Church at 57th and 29th Street Northeast at about 2:30 a.m. and found the fire burning in the line of small trees between a sidewalk and a home.
"Our church here is made of concrete, so it's pretty well safe, but it's still causing people a lot of concern and fear," said Cecil Clevenger, a member of the church. "Fire is something that you can't control until the fire department gets here, and then it may be too late."
KIRO 7 Eyewitness News first reported the string of arsons last Wednesday.
That fire burned in a line of trees near 49th Avenue Northeast and 33rd Street Northeast. A woman who lived in the house nearby said firefighters told her at the time that it was the ninth in a series stretching back about a month.
Police and fire investigators have formed a task force to look for whoever is responsible for setting the fires.
