Faulty Wiring Sparks Pennsylvania Outlet Center Fire

The fire damage is estimated at a half million dollars.

Firefighters said a faulty wiring of a light in the overhang in front of Danskin caused a fire at the Rockvale Square Outlets Friday night.

Danskin, Toys and More, Jockey, and Jones New York will be closed for several weeks.

The fire damage is estimated at a half million dollars.

The winds were just crazy, it was pushing this fire every direction and we'd be looking at it and one time the fire would be out and 30 seconds later another section would be on fire, said one firefighter.

We have two stores with major fire damage and at least four to five with additional smoke damage, said Steve Gribble, Ronks Fire Department Chief.

The outlets closed early because of snow Friday evening and no one was around to alert anyone of the fire.

The Danskin building is more than 20 years old and is not required to have fire alarms or a sprinkler system.

Our roofs for the most part held, some of these stores with all that water that was dumped might only have like a half inch of water in them, said David Ober, Rockvale Outlets.

Firewalls stopped flames from spreading to any other buildings.
