Fiery Accident Closes Tappan Zee Bridge in New York

An accident involving at least two vehicles has shut down both sides of the Tappan Zee Bridge.

(New York - WABC, Sept. 13, 2005) - An accident involving at least two vehicles has shut down both sides of the Tappan Zee Bridge.

One of the vehicles - reported to be a truck carrying pasta products - may have caught fire, according to officials.

Rescuers from both Rockland and Westchester counties responded to the scene and a search boat was in the water.

The cause of the accident is not yet known, and there is no word on when the bridge will reopen.
