Kelly Kincaid collapsed at a fire scene.

Hundreds of people attended a funeral for a local firefighter who died after collapsing on the job.

The service for Kelly Kincaid was held at the First Baptist Church in Morganton.

Kelly Kincaid, a reserve firefighter and 19-year law enforcement veteran, suffered a major heart attack while fighting two arson fires in Morganton Friday night.

"There's just no way to assess the loss that we have in losing Kelly. He was a bridge building, a communications guy between the agencies and a good representative of what law enforcement is about and firefighting is about in our community," said Chief Mark Tolbert.

Kincaid's casket was placed on a fire truck and taken to the cemetery for burial.
