Virginia Firefighters Respond to House Fire

July 16, 2008

A smoke alarm is credited for allowing woman to escape house fire safely.

A box alarm sounded announcing a working fire for Chesterfield firefighters around 0540 hours on July 13 at 3500 Bellbluff Drive.

Crews arrived on scene and reported fire through the roof. A female resident had self evacuated after being awakened by the smoke alarm sounding its warning.

Five inch quick connect was laid and multiple hand lines, then a fast attack was launched.

With a hard, unyielding attack on the fire a fast knock down was accomplished.

Officials said this was a perfect example of what having a smoke detector can do, save a life.

The fire is under investigation.
