The church van rolled over after colliding with another vehicle along I-75 in Sumter County on Tuesday afternoon. The Florida Highway Patrol said the accident happened around 2:15pm on I-75 southbound, just north of CR-476.

Eight people were injured, all adults. The bus was heading home to St. Petersburg from a Christmas trip.

Troopers said 38-year-old Gail Melton, of Altoona, was driving a car on I-75, near Bushnell, drifted onto the shoulder, overcorrected, clipped the front of the bus and sent the bus flying off the road.

Melton reportedly submitted to testing for alcohol and drugs. The Florida Highway Patrol was investigating.

The bus is owned by a retirement community chain called Westminister Shores. It's based in Orlando, but the passengers were headed to a facility in St. Petersburg.
