In Vista, a man accused of impersonating a firefighter during last week's firestorm was arraigned on one felony and four misdemeanor charges.
William Brock, 44, pleaded not guilty. Sheriff's deputies arrested Brock in an evacuated area of the Rice Fire in Fallbrook last Wednesday. Officials said Brock was dressed like a firefighter and told them he had been sent to put out hot spots. He wore a patch that read "Morongo Valley Fire Department," authorities said.
A prosecutor also said that, "when the defendants vehicle was searched, there was a baton, a law-enforcement type baton, which is illegal."
Brock was on probation in Los Angeles County for drug violations. The judge set his bail at $250,000.
And in East County, two men accused of looting a burned-out home pleaded not guilty.
John Campos and Noe Macias were arraigned, accused of rummaging a home in Tecate that had been destroyed in the Harris Fire.
Each is being held on $25,000 bail. They are set to have another court hearing Friday.
