A child died after a fire ripped through an area home Thursday.
The call went out at about 12:30 p.m. Thursday, but when an off-duty firefighter who lives nearby got to the home two minutes later, the fire was too great for any heroic efforts, WLKY NewsChannel 32's Ben Jackey reported.
Crews arrived at the home near Muldraugh, in Meade County, a short time after that, but the fire had spread and even caused the second floor to collapse onto the second floor.
The 3-year-old boy was found several hours later, well after the fire had been put out, Jackey reported.
It's not clear what caused the blaze.
