Rescue Crews Extricate Seattle Officer After Cruiser Crash

Police said the patrol car was responding to a call and had flashing lights and siren on at the time of the crash.

A police cruiser and another vehicle collided in Seattle's Central District early Thursday morning, leaving an officer and another driver injured.

Rescue crews cut the roof from the police car to get the officer out, KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reported.

The 5 a.m. crash happened at 12th Avenue and Cherry Street. The intersection is closed while police investigate.

The officer and the woman driving the other car were both taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Both are expected to survive.
