A man was charged Tuesday with setting a fire that destroyed his father's northeastern Mecklenburg mobile home, Chief Fire Investigator David Lowery said.

Lowery said a domestic dispute between the two led to the fire, which was discovered just before midnight Monday. Joseph L. Ford Jr., 24, was in the Mecklenburg jail late Tuesday charged with second-degree arson.

Lowery said Ford is accused of setting fire to the mobile home on Riverside Drive. The blaze destroyed the mobile home.

Charlotte firefighters were called to two other structure fires between 11 p.m. Monday and 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Capt. Rob Brisley said.

Just after 11 p.m. Monday, they were called to a business on West Boulevard. The fire, at Showcase Reality of the Carolinas, caused about $10,000 damage, Brisley said.

Just after 8 a.m. Tuesday, firefighters were called to a vacant duplex apartment on Downs Avenue. A homeless woman who'd been staying there suffered minor burns on her hands and arms. Fire investigators determined that she'd started the fire, which caused about $10,000 in damaged. No charges against the woman are currently pending, Brisley said.
