Fire officials were trying to determine Monday night what caused a blaze that destroyed a sailboat docked in the Gulfport Small Craft Harbor.

A crowd gathered at the harbor shortly after 8 p.m. and watched as 16 Gulfport firefighters and the U.S. Coast Guard battled the blaze on the Sir Francis. Fire Chief Pat Sullivan said no one was injured in the fire. He said firefighters managed to keep the fire from spreading to other boats and from destroying the pier.
