WINCHESTER, Ind. (AP) -- A Wal-Mart was evacuated after a fire that police say was deliberately set started in the paper-products aisle.
One person was treated for minor smoke inhalation at St. Vincent Randolph Hospital, but there were no serious injuries in the Tuesday fire, said Winchester Police Chief Michael Burke.
Firefighters were called to the store at about 8:30 p.m., as smoke quickly filled the building and alarms went off.
Employees had already used extinguishers on the fire, and it took only a few seconds for Winchester firefighters to put it out completely. Most of the damage was contained to the aisle with paper towels, toilet paper and napkins.
Someone used an accelerant to start the fire, police said. No arrests were made as of early Wednesday.
``It is in the middle of paper towels. There are no electric wires, and there is nothing here that would naturally cause the fire,'' Burke said. ``We are just now getting into the investigation.''
The store in the town about 20 miles east of Muncie was closed for the rest of the night.
