HILLSBORO, Ore. -- A re-enactment of a collision between a fire truck and a MAX train in downtown Hillsboro has led investigators to consider human error as a possible cause.

Four people were hospitalized with minor injuries Sunday afternoon.

According to yesterday's re-enactment, investigators found that the emergency vehicle's system to change the traffic light worked from blocks away.

The fire engine was equipped with gear that can override traffic lights. Investigators say preliminary indications are that the light switched to green, giving the fire engine the right of way.

A TriMet spokeswoman says they are investigating if it was human error on either side -- or if it was a signal malfunction.
