JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- A Jacksonville firefighter has been accused of plotting a fake rape scheme in order to get the chief fired.
Thirty-eight-year-old Edward R- Colleton was in jail yesterday on 250-thousand dollars bond. He was arrested Tuesday on felony charges of conspiring to commit official misconduct and criminal solicitation.
The Fire and Rescue Department engineer is accused of trying to recruit a female former fire department employee to entice District Fire Chief Alonzo McQueen to her home to have sex while he was on duty.
Sheriff's office officials say the woman was then to call police and falsely claim the chief raped her, according to a Sheriff's Office report.
Police said the plan was foiled when the unidentified woman reported it to McQueen, who contacted authorities.
Police have not identified the woman.
Authorities say the woman says Colleton told her she could file a civil lawsuit against the city and could collect at least 500-dollars.
Authorities say Colleton told the woman she could share the money from the civil suit winnings with him.
