The next time there's a serious emergency in the city, the first voice coming out of the radio may be that of Mayor Bloomberg.

The mayor announced yesterday that the city has signed an agreement with local broadcasters for a voluntary emergency alert system similar to the federal government's mandatory one.

The system allows the mayor to almost instantaneously contact four radio stations
