David Murdock faced up to ten years in prison and a $15,000 fine.

He pled no contest in December to embezzling more than $20,000.

Aide from jail time, Murdock must repay Sparta $19,700.

The embezzlement was allegedly done by falsifying invoices, some with the logos of two businesses connected to Murdock.

Murdock was suspended in June after the allegations came to light.

A member of the Sparta Fire Department Board told 24 Hour News 8 Tuesday that Murdock has moved out of the township, so he's no longer eligible to be a Sparta firefighter, and he's probably not eligible anyway considering the circumstances.
