Feb. 12--EDMONDS -- An Edmonds police officer entered a burning apartment building early Sunday to notify sleeping residents of the blaze. Jodi Sackville ran from door to door waking up residents to safely evacuate them, said Sgt. Mike Blackburn.
Sackville and other officers were on the scene at the apartment complex on the 7600 block of 230th Street Southwest when they discovered a fire in a second floor unit. Officers informed dispatch who called fire fighters from Snohomish County, Lynnwood, and Shoreline to the scene.
All residents were safely evacuated,and Sackville was treated by paramedics for smoke inhalation. She was also transported to a Seattle hospital for treatment, then released later Sunday.
Sackville's efforts were "outstanding," said Leslie Hynes, a spokesperson for Snohomish County Fire District 1.
