California Mayor's Law Office Destroyed in Arson Blaze

Oct. 01--Vallejo Fire Chief Paige Meyer confirmed Sunday night that the fire that consumed Mayor Osby Davis' law offices was caused by arson.
The two-alarm blaze gutted Davis' front office on Tuolumne Street across from the Solano County Superior Court at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday.
Meyer, however, did not release any other information Sunday regarding the cause of the fire, citing an ongoing investigation. Earlier Saturday, officials said the fire was being investigated as a possible arson, but had not concluded that was the case.
The Vallejo Police Department is working with the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to look into the case as "a form of potential domestic terrorism," Vallejo police Lt. Sid De Jesus said Saturday.
Davis shares the single-story office building in the 400 block of Tuolumne Street with another lawyer, Micheal Thompson.
Meyer said even though the building was most likely a total loss, most of its contents were salvageable. Vallejo firefighters took about 15 minutes to knock down the fire, which seemed to have started in the front waiting room area, Meyer added.
This was the second time in months that Davis has been the victim of a crime. On May 18, the mayor's 11-year-old motorcycle was stolen from the Vallejo City Hall parking lot.
No motive has been given for the fire, and no one was injured.
