An investigation into a deadly crash between a fire department vehicle and an SUV in Rankin found that the apparatus failed to yield.

The April 3 crash involving a tanker from the Lake Harbor Fire Department left a 10-year-old boy dead and several others seriously injured.

Mississippi Highway Patrol Cpl. Eric Henry said the fire truck was trying to cross southbound lanes of Mississippi 43 when the collision happened, according to The Clarion Ledger.

The firefighters in the tanker, who witnesses said were training with the emergency vehicle, were uninjured.
