Feb. 20, 2009

The recent change in the White House and Congress is the topic of this month's joint broadcast of Campus Firewatch Radio and Fire Marshal's Corner. The podcast begins with an overview of the provisions of the Campus Fire Safety Right-to-Know which are undergoing the rulemaking phase at the Department of Education. Podcast host Ed Comeau, the publisher of Campus Firewatch, has been appointed to the committee that will be developing these regulations and provides and overview of the process.

A panel of guests provides their perspective on the 111th Congress, including the legislative priorities and tips on how to work with Congress in getting legislation passed. Join Sean Carroll, director of government affairs for the Congressional Fire Services Institute; Sara Yerkes, senior vice president, government relations, International Code Council and Ken LaSala, director, government relations, International Association of Fire Chiefs.

Make sure you visit the webpage devoted to the Campus Fire Safety Right-to-Know, where you can review the current law and offer suggestions on the regulations that are going to be developed starting on March 2. This is your opportunity to get in on the ground floor of the regulation-making phase.
