Klayton Manning, an 18-year-old volunteer with the Southeast Caldwell County Fire Department, was shot and killed along with another young male Tuesday night.

A teenage volunteer firefighter in southeast Texas was shot and killed along with another teenager believed to be his cousin, and an adult male is under arrest in the double-homicide.

According to KVUE News, 18-year-old Klayton Manning, a volunteer firefighter with the Southeast Caldwell County Fire Department, and his 16-year-old cousin were both shot and killed in Tilmon on Tuesday night. Manning was driving a department ATV, according to the U.S. Fire Administration, which ruled the incident a line-of-duty death.

Sheriff's deputies found the bodies of the two young men near a utility vehicle, and it appeared as though the victims had been driving down the road when they encountered the gunman, who was identified as 34-year-old Bryan Haynes of Austin and arrested at a home in Bastrop County on Thursday.

Details about what led to the shooting were not immediately available, but other reports stated that the teens may have happened upon Haynes in the commission of a crime while they were checking on reports of smoke in the area.
