The suspects were identified during a probe of the fire where Lexington Capt. Ronnie Metcalf sustained the injuries that killed him.

Two people have been charged in connection with the fire that claimed Lexington Fire Capt. Ronnie Metcalf.

Brandon Hoskins, 31, and Stacie B. Stegall, 37, both of Lexington, were charged with breaking and entering,  WRAL reported.

Metcalf, a 19-year veteran of the department, died Friday at Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Health of injuries sustained in the house fire. He was discovered missing after other firefighters evacuated the house when conditions worsened.
