Dec. 18--A tire fire spoiled a semi-trailer's trip -- and its load of yogurt -- Saturday night on Interstate 15 near the California border, county officials said.

The Clark County Fire Department responded at 11:33 p.m. Saturday to the northbound lanes of the interstate, near the California state line between Primm and Jean.

The truck driver stopped after noticing a problem with dual tires on his trailer, officials said. The bearings had overheated, setting the rear tires on fire, officials said.

The driver attempted to extinguish the blaze after disconnecting the tractor from the trailer, but the fire had grown too large, officials said.

Firefighters brought the fire under control within 10 minutes. No one was injured.

Officials deemed the refrigerator full of yogurt a total loss.
