Video: Nine Departments Fight Massive MI Townhouse Fire

Firefighters from Grand Rapids, Rockford and other areas battled flames for several hours after a three-alarm blaze broke out at a six-unit townhouse in Plainfield Township.

KENT COUNTY, MIFirefighters from nine departments battled an overnight fire at a six-unit townhouse in Plainfield Township.

Flames had broken through the roof when Plainfield Township firefighters reached the scene on Tamarack Turn Street NE just before midnight Monday, May 4.

Firefighters called in assistance from neighboring fire departments.

All of the occupants escaped unhurt.

Four of the units were destroyed but firefighters were able to save the other two. Firefighters battled flames several hours before bringing it under control.

The building is south of Five Mile Road, west of East Beltline Avenue.

Firefighters from the cities of Grand Rapids, Rockford and Walker and townships of Ada, Algoma, Alpine, Cannon and Grand Rapids assisted Plainfield Township firefighters.
