TX Firefighters Rescue Teen Inside Closet in House Blaze

Montgomery County crews found the unconscious 18-year-old woman during a search of a burning home in Willis, and they were able to pull her out of the fire to be resuscitated at the scene.

Texas firefighters rescued an unconscious teen trapped inside a closet in a burning house Tuesday.

The fire broke out shortly after midnight at a house in Willis, the Montgomery County Fire Chiefs Association said in a post on social media. Crews from Montgomery County ESD 1 first arrived, with Montgomery and Conroe firefighters also responding.

At the scene, firefighters found an adult and three children who were able to escape the flames. An 18-year-old woman was still inside the burning home, however.

After a search of the home, the woman was found unconscious in her bedroom closet where she had gone and covered herself to escape the heat and smoke, according to the fire chiefs association. She was pulled from the house, and paramedics immediately began CPR.

The woman was resuscitated at the scene, and she was taken to the hospital in critical condition. She was later transferred to a burn center.

This is the second burning home rescue for Montgomery County units in the past two weeks. Conroe firefighters saved a resident from her burning home under similar conditions on July 21, the fire chiefs association said.
