Dec. 22—A pilot was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon when a plane crashed into a home in Auburn, authorities in Placer County said.
Deputies were at the scene of the plane crash on Miracle Drive, the Placer County Sheriff's Office announced shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday on social media. Sheriff's officials said they did not have any further details to release.
The plane reportedly took down some power lines in the moments before it crashed into the home, said Capt. Sam Layton of the Cal Fire Nevada-Yuba-Placer Unit. He said the plane's pilot suffered major injuries and was hospitalized.
Only the pilot was injured in the plane crash; there were no reported injuries on the ground, Layton said. It was unclear the extent of damage at the home, and building inspectors were on their way to the scene, he said.
There will be more with this news story as soon as additional information becomes available.
