Chesterfield firefighters battled heavy fire conditions in the attic of a large multi-story home early Sunday morning that left five people homeless.
Firefighters received the call around 8:00 a.m., and the first firefighters arrived within four minutes, according to WRIC 8 News.
Fire crews arrived to fire showing from the attic of a two-story home and initiated an interior attack.
As conditions deteriorated, commanders transitioned operations to a defensive attack to control the fire.
Fire officials said one firefighter and one civilian suffered minor injuries.
