Providence firefighters battled fires in two neighboring homes including one that had burned last year.
The home at 433 has been vacant since a fire broke out there in May 2023.
“When there’s previous fire damage it allows fire to spread much quicker. So it is a significant hindrance for our operations,” Providence Deputy Chief Craig Grantham told WPRI.
“When the first alarm companies arrived, they had two houses well involved. Our assets spread pretty thin and very quickly. The first chief on the scene was able to make it a second alarm right away and when I got on scene I made it a third alarm just to get more manpower here and separate it because at that point we have two separate building fires.”
