Body Found Two Days After Cleveland Firefighters Declared the House 'Clear'
A man's body was found on a porch Sunday, two days after Cleveland firefighters searched and declared a house 'clear.'
Crews said they searched the house not once but twice after the pre-dawn Friday fire.
After helping a man on the first floor escape, crews searched the second floor for the resident who lived there. But, didn't find him, WJW reported.
In their initial release on Friday following the fire, Cleveland fire officials noted there was an adult male who was unaccounted for. He lived on the second floor.
“We made multiple search attempts, and it is possible he was not home at the time of the incident,” officials wrote.
The victim's daughter said she called her father repeatedly after the fire, and became increasingly concerned when she didn't hear back.
Kiona Oliver is demanding answers firefighter's jobs are to "search and find" especially after neighbors told them her father lived there.
On Sunday when fire investigators returned to the scene, they found the body on the second floor porch where they suspected fireworks sparked the fire that spread to other houses.
Fire officials wouldn't respond to any media inquiries after the man's body was recovered.
