Roxboro, North Carolina Firefighters Respond to Fire at Paper Manufacturing Plant

On the afternoon of Tuesday, March 22, 2005 the Roxboro Fire Department was dispatched to Georgia Pacific Corp. for a reported structure fire.

On the afternoon of Tuesday, March 22, 2005 the Roxboro Fire Department was dispatched to Georgia Pacific Corp. for a reported structure fire.

Upon arrival, first due Engine 3 found a 60 - 70 foot tall bin of wood chips and saw dust with heavy smoke showing.

Deputy Chief Saylor arrived on the scene and assumed command. Along with the plant staff, Deputy Chief Saylor came up with an action plan.

After two and a half hours of working along side of plant staff the fire was controlled. The plant staff then took over the scene and to start repairs.

Two engines, one ladder operated on scene.
