At 2:29 a.m. on Sunday, April 29, the Campbell Hall Fire Department was alerted for a barn fire on Pergatory Road. Campbell Hall Chief Robert Cullen found a large two-story horse barn fully involved. The roof had collapsed.
Chief Cullen immediately requested two tankers from Goshen and a tanker from Maybrook to the scene. A short time later, a second alarm was transmitted with numerous additional requests for tankers to the scene. A ladder truck and several engines also responded. The fire was under control in about 90 minutes but the building continued to burn for hours.
Companies from Washingtonville, Montgomery, Florida and Coldenham assisted on the scene along with the Goshen Ambulance Corps and New York State Police.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Orange County Fire Investigation Unit. There were no injuries reported.
