MI Crews Called to Multiple Fires Simultaneously

Firefighters responding to two fires in Mecosta and Montcalm counties early Monday discovered two additional structure fires.

MECOSTA COUNTY, MI - Police and fire investigators are looking into fires that damaged three structures in Mecosta County and another in nearby Montcalm County.

The causes are considered suspicious, police said.

Morley Area Fire Department responded around 4:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, to a structure fire in northern Deerfield Township. While firefighters responded to that fire, two others were discovered in the immediate area, while another was reported in northern Montcalm County.

All of the structures were unoccupied. No injuries have been reported.

Mecosta County Sheriff's Department, Mecosta County Fire Investigation Team and state police Fire Investigation Unit are investigating.

Firefighters responded from Lakeview, Mecosta Township, Morton Township, Big Rapids Township, Big Rapids Department of Public Safety, Big Prairie Township in Newaygo County and Maple Valley in Montcalm County.
