DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) -- Two people were killed and two others missing Wednesday after an explosion aboard an oil tanker off the eastern shore of the United Arab Emirates, a port official said.
The explosion took place while the oil tanker was transferring its cargo onto another tanker, about eight miles off the shores of the emirate of al-Fujairah on the Arabian Sea, said Musa Morad, general manager of the Fujairah port.
Morad said the coast guard was looking for the missing men. The victims were not identified.
It was not immediately clear what caused the explosion but port authorities were investigating. No other details on the tankers were available.
The fire was extinguished and there was no oil spill, Morad said.
