Pittsburgh Firefighter Suffers Third-Degree Burns

PITTSBURGH -- A Pittsburgh firefighter was treated for third-degree burns he suffered battling a blaze in the city's Fairywood neighborhood. The firefighter was injured at a home in the 2000 block of Broadhead-Fording Road late Sunday night. According to fire authorities, the firefighter was responding to a call about smoke coming from the home. Inside, fire crews discovered the source of the smoke was burned food and during the firefighter was burned by a pot of grease.

A Pittsburgh firefighter was treated for third-degree burns he suffered battling a blaze in the city's Fairywood neighborhood.

The firefighter was injured at a home in the 2000 block of Broadhead-Fording Road late Sunday night.

According to fire authorities, the firefighter was responding to a call about smoke coming from the home. Inside, fire crews discovered the source of the smoke was burned food and during the firefighter was burned by a pot of grease.

He was transported to the hospital from the firehouse.

Fire authorities have not released the firefighter's identity or his condition.
