Jan. 10--ALCOA -- An apartment fire this morning claimed the life of one woman and left a firefighter with a broken ankle.
Alcoa Fire Chief Roger Robinson said the blaze was reported at 2:13 a.m. Further details of the fatality were forthcoming.
Robinson said Alcoa Firefighter Dan Harris sustained a broken ankle while battling the flames.
"He was pulling hose to catch a hydrant and stepped wrong," the chief said.
Harris underwent surgery to repair the fractured bones, Robinson said. Harris has been with the city since 2002.
