A Houston firefighter was shot and wounded by a woman with a pellet gun and a department apparatus was vandalized during a call late last week.
The incident happened at around 11:30 a.m. Friday during a fire at a storage facility, KHOU-TV reports. While crews worked to put out the burning storage unit, a woman open fire with a pellet gun, wounding a firefighter in the back.
The firefighter was taken to the hospital for evaluation. He later returned to duty.
Windows on an apparatus that responded to the call also were broken by one of two people inside the storage unit. The vehicle's interior was damaged as well, according to KTRK-TV.
Firefighters eventually extinguished the flames using a pump can, and the blaze is under investigation. At least one person was arrested in connection with the incident.
Earlier Friday, a Houston arson investigator was shot and killed in an exchange of gunfire during surveillance into a recent series of intentionally set fires. Those incidents appear to be unrelated.
