Shot Shatters IL Station Window, Narrowly Misses FF

Jan. 2, 2024
Camp Jackson Fire Chief Chris Davis believes someone celebrating the new year fired the shot.

A Camp Jackson firefighter's close call came not at a fire but at the station.

Miles Hogan was standing near a window at the firehouse just before midnight on New Year's Eve when the glass shattered.

“I heard a pop against the window. So I retreated back,” Hogan told Fox 2.

Fire Chief Chris Davis said he suspects someone celebrating the New Year fired a gun. Other shots were heard in the area that night.

“I understand people want to celebrate, but people need to think,” Davis said. “This was a close call.”

Other firefighters in the station who were playing a board game went into a hallway sans window for safety.
