The Fitchburg MA, Fire Dept. recently purchased a heavy rescue from Ferrara Fire Apparatus.

The Fitchburg MA, Fire Dept. recently purchased a heavy rescue from Ferrara. When reviewing options, the department, determined that Ferrara would be able to meet its needs and time frame. Fitchburg firefighters then set about to develop compartment and equipment needs. Rescue 1 is built on a Ferrara Cinder cab and chassis, powered by a Cummins ISL 450-hp engine and an Allison 3000EVS transmission. It has a heavy-duty extruded aluminum, walk-around style body. It's equipped with a Warn 12,000-pound front-mounted winch, a Harrison Hydra-Gen 10,000-watt generator, a Command Light light tower, and electric cord and hydraulic reels. It is set up to serve and support technical and dive rescue operations.
