Showcase: Leitersburg, Md., Rescue Engine 9-1

On February 26, the Leitersburg Volunteer Fire Company placed a 2013 Pierce Saber rescue/engine in service.

The unit is equipped with a 1,250 gpm Waterous pump, 1,000-gallon poly tank.

Fire attack is handled with 1,500 feet of 5-inch LDH, a 300-foot 3-inch Blitzfire line, 300-foot 3-inch leader line, four pre-connected crosslays and a front bumper line.

Rescue equipment includes a full Holmatro extrication system including spreader, cutter, combi-tool and ram, Res-Q-Jack strut system, Turtle Plastic cribbing, a RIT pack and additional equipment.

The cab seats six firefighters and includes a Firecom wireless communication system. Electrical components include a Harrison Hydraulic generator, Will-Burt LED light tower and ample scene lighting.

The unit has already operated on a few working fires and is proving to be a vital asset to the fleet.
