Nashville firefighters stood in as "Father Figures" for Alex Felts, the daughter of Firefighter Mike Felts who passed away in 2020.

Nashville firefighters attended a high school senior night with the daughter of a firefighter who died in 2020.

Firefighter Mike Felts passed away after a brief illness in March 2020, leaving behind his wife and two daughters.

Last week, more than a dozen Nashville firefighters attended the Green Hill High School Senior Night for Felts' daughter, Alex.

"While her father could not be there, Mike's NFD brothers and sisters stood in as 'Father Figures' for this important night," the fire department posted on Facebook. "This is an example of how the job bonds both our personnel and their families."

The department reminded Alex that they will be there for her, adding "Alex heads to Western Kentucky University in the fall knowing her NFD Family is just a call away."
