OH Apartment Fire Leaves 30 Homeless

Fire, smoke and water damage, combined with the loss of electrical power, forced 30 Reynoldsburg residents to seek temporary housing.

A fire in a large apartment complex Saturday forced about 30 Reynoldsburg residents into temporary housing.

The fire tore through the building at 530 Postwoods Drive in the Post Woods apartment complex just before 6 p.m. and spread into adjoining apartments, according to Truro Township fire officials.

Firefighters from Columbus, along with Violet and Jefferson townships, assisted Truro. There were no reported injuries.

"Obviously you're going to displace multiple people when they kill power to a building that size," along with smoke, water and fire damage, said Battalion Chief Mike Dorsey.

The Red Cross, property managers and others were helping the displaced find lodging.

A cause has not been determined, said Dorsey.
