Lucy T

July 15, 2009
Despite being located on an island, the Friday Harbor Fire Department had never owned a boat prior to receiving this one--a gift from the late Paul Whittier. Named for his wife Lucy, the boat was designed and built under his direction, in his own private facility. Equipped with a 1,000 gpm pump, the Lucy T carries a deck gun, 1-3/4" attack lines, a 1" reel line for foam, and a couple hundred feet of 2-1/2" supply line. The boat is powered by a 355 hp Chevy gas engine, driving a Berkeley jet drive. Top speed is 13 knots. The Lucy T is marked for replacement by a smaller, faster vessel, in the summer of 2003.
