MONT VERNON, N.H. --
Strong winds are being blamed for stoking the flames in a three-alarm house fire that injured two New Boston firefighters, according to fire officials.
The firefighters were injured when the ladder they were on came loose and fell to the ground while they were venting the roof, said fire officials. They were treated for minor injuries and released.
Crews from eight towns responded to a call from 3 Black Brook Way at 11:49 p.m. on Friday. They found the fire was burning on the second floor of the two-story home when they arrived. The second alarm was called in at 12:03 a.m. Saturday and the third alarm at 12:28 a.m.
Crews had the fire under control by 3 a.m.
Fire officials said strong winds pushed the fire through the entire house before firefighters arrived.
Officials said the fire started in a vehicle, spread to the garage, and then the second floor. There was extensive damage on the second floor of the home with water and smoke damage on the first floor.
Neither of the two residents was injured in the blaze, but the house is unlivable at this point.
There cause of the vehicle fire is currently unknown and under investigation.
