EAST MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, Pa. --

A two-alarm house fire sent two people to the hospital Saturday night in East Manchester Township.

It happened around 9:45 p.m. near Laurel Drive in a house development off of North Sherman Street.

One firefighter was taken to the hospital with an arm injury and a resident was also taken to the hospital with facial and hand burns, according to authorities.

Fire marshalls said they believe the house is a total loss. Several fire companies were on the scene of the fire.

Officials said the fire started when the homeowner used gasoline to light a fire in his fire pit.

A family cat died in the fire.
