AURORA, Ill. (AP) -- A fire Thursday morning destroyed the home of WGN-AM radio personality Spike O'Dell, who was out of town on an Alaskan cruise, fire and station officials said.

A security guard in the subdivision where O'Dell lives found the 2 1/2-story home engulfed in flames at about 3:20 a.m., Aurora Fire Marshal Jack Smith said.

''We're thankful there was no loss of human life or injury,'' said Tom Langmyer, vice president and general manager of the radio station. The family dog, though, has not been found, he said.

It took 25 firefighters more than 30 minutes to get the blaze under control, Smith said. The only thing spared was the home's garage.

Siding and gutters on a neighboring home also were damaged.
